The skull seems to have washed up to the launch and remained there for some time. Its appearance was bleached and little skin remained, the source said.

The skull had two holes in the back, though authorities weren't immediately sure whether they were the result of gunshots or some other trauma. Another set of skeletal remains was found Monday in the block of Chef Menteur Highway, less than two miles from the patch of woods where the SUV of a missing year-old woman from New Orleans East named Jean Stokes turned up Tuesday. Stokes' daughter, Darlene Veal, told police on Oct.

Veal flew in from Arlington, Texas, and couldn't find either her mother or her mother's car at her home in the block of Good Drive. Veal then reported Stokes missing. Supporters of Stokes' family held a candlelight vigil Monday night on Good Drive, and a few watched a day later as investigators towed away her car, which was missing its license plate. Stokes' granddaughter, Nastashia Stokes, said the search for her missing grandmother continued Wednesday. She asked anyone with information about Stokes' disappearance to call Crimestoppers at I rarely write reviews and ever more rarely, bad ones, but this book was a disappointment.

The constant repetition of the same phrases and descriptions, the lack of understanding of both law enforcement even small town southern departments and domestic abuse was glaring.

I understand she was trying to bring such horrors to light, but it made me cringe more often than not. What I really liked like about this one is the plethora of bad guys converging on the Bayou for various reasons, which resulted in a big, exciting finish. There were bad guys, badder guys and a really really bad guy who was kind of hard to take, as was the suffering of the heroine at times. I liked the hero and heroine and how they had to overcome their emotional issues before really getting together. My only problem is that their mental processes were rather repetitive. Mack was always What I really liked like about this one is the plethora of bad guys converging on the Bayou for various reasons, which resulted in a big, exciting finish.

Mack was always pondering if he's been honorable or not in shooting his ex partner, for example. Still - very enjoyable as I come to expect from this author Mar 27, K. Dawn rated it it was amazing. I absolutely loved this book. Melanie Atkins shines as a writer.

Skeleton Bayou : Melanie Atkins :

The woman knows how to write suspense that's intriguing enough to keep you turning the pages. She's so good at character development that I fell in love with her hero and cared about what happened to her heroine. Atkins is an excellent writer who knows how to craft a story you won't want to put down. I'll definitely be reading more of her work. Nov 18, BkloverValerie rated it it was ok. I liked the story concept here but found it hard to relate to the characters, and in some cases difficult to get a full sense of the character. I was looking forward to this book, and I admit, I finished it to see how the end would turn out.

I will likely read more of Melanie's books, but can't recommend this one. Dec 06, Beth Brunner schauer rated it it was amazing.

I loved the whole romance mystery that the book is. I read it in one day, because I couldn't put it down. Skeleton Bayou is a compelling tale of romantic suspense. The action never flags, and the beautifully drawn love scenes are torrid. Highly recommended.

A lot of this book was super repetitive which was annoying and I didn't like how the romance just started out of no where, it was very unrealistic to me.
